Ultra Dance HAS returned from that dismal UD10, in that it's better. However, let's be honest: they're FAR from the time when I looked forward to every release, when every release was better than candy to a kid. What's more interesting, they've put ALBUM versions of certain songs.... tsk tsk tsk. For me, Ultra is starting to go WAY past it's prime with the inclusion of short hip-hop/rap songs on their "dance" comps; only Ultra Trance and Weekend remain untouched by this ghastly affair. There is a fair bit of those songs here, though significantly less than Ultra 2010, which makes it an improvement. They also finally return to length, with one 7 minute, and a few 6 minutes, offset by at least 2 songs less than 3(!) minutes, and numerous 3-4 minute songs. That's okay; most of those short songs need to be short. Once again, however, there are a number of repeats from other, more recent installments, and one repeat that hasn't been seen in over 2 years (Love is Gone). Now, the music itself has significantly improved; these are pretty good. Overall, it really is an okay album; it's just that I no longer expect good things from Ultra Records, and while this album is pretty good, it's neither surprising nor awe-inspiring; it doesn't change my opinion.

I bought this at Target for $7.99 (on sale). I was like, "what the hell? 2 discs for $8." Maybe that's why I'm so lenient...
It won't satisfy the masses that they gained from earlier UD installments, but they shouldn't lose anymore... or at least not as much as with UD10.

Ultra Dance 11 is out and is back in form, mostly. Aside from the inclusion of album versions of some pop/hip-hop songs, one has to admit that there are some big remixes on this 2 CD set. You get over 5 minutes of the Cahill Remix of "Obsessed" by Mariah Carey, over 7 minutes of the fantastic Dave Aude Mix of "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga and over 5 minutes of the Digital Dog Remix of "Please Dont Leave Me" by P!nk along with other great songs.

I would recommend getting this cd along with Thrive's latest dance comp, "Dance Nation". Both CDs offer great remixes and personally, I like both of them.

Disc 1 is a Great mix of Dance Music, may be the best Ultra Dance yet. Disc 2 was mediocre at best.

I love telling other peeps about finding really cool CD/MP3 compliations, and this is one of them. When I play at nightclubs, I use about 3/4 of this set (not back to back) to get the crowds jumping and happy go lucky. It's a great mix if you just want what's new for the start of 2k10. I would say these mixes would be valid and happy between 2/2010 to 4/2010 if you live in a major city that is up to date with music. If not, then you could probably put the end date to 8/2010. These tunes are quick fixes to make people happy and not long term lasting songs. If you want something better, then go look at possibly making your own unique mixes with Fedde Le Grand, where you can sample some of the songs from this album on top of your own stuff.

Long story short, this is a great CD for now, but long term it's going to get old pretty fast. If you're a DJ, you'll love it.
